An affected group of displaced informal craft traders challenged the validity of their eviction from an area in Stellenbosch that they have traded upon for the past 18 years. They were evicted on the 16 January and were still looking for a place to trade and earn a decent living. Having been evicted during February of this year by the local municipality who were acting on complaints from a local church, these hapless traders were promised alternative trading sites by the municipality but have until now not been successful in attaining them.
Every year the world marks an International Day of Families. This Day is scheduled for May 15 and has chooses its own social topic. So, 2013’s theme was under the title “Advancing Social Integration and Intergenerational Solidarity”.
Xhidmat-ISH, StreetNet Affiliate from Azerbaijan, also marked this Day on May 15, 2013 while conducting a "round table" which was attended by some representatives of the Center “Healthy Family", national perfume company "Gazella groups", lawyers of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (AHIK) and some amateur representatives from the Palace of Culture.
The International Council meeting of StreetNet was held from May 25 to 26, 2013 in Conakry, Guinea. This statutory meeting was organised about two months after the fourth International Congress of StreetNet which was held in Santiago, Chile.
UPTA Spain was represented at the StreetNet International Council held in Guinea (Conakry). The secretary of UPTA Spain on Sector Policy, César García, who was elected as International Secretary, at the Fourth Congress of StreetNet, represented UPTA Spain at this meeting and will do so successively for the next three-year term of the Executive Committee. StreetNet is the only global organisation which represents the interests of street vendors.

StreetNet International is an alliance of street vendors. It was launched in Durban, South Africa, in November 2002.
Membership-based organizations (unions, co-operatives or associations) directly organizing street vendors, market vendors and/or hawkers among their members, are entitled to affiliate to StreetNet International.
The aim of StreetNet is to promote the exchange of information and ideas on critical issues facing street vendors, market vendors and hawkers (i.e. mobile vendors) and on practical organizing and advocacy strategies
