Street Vendor Project at the Urban Justice Center

1 November 2012

Dear friends,

Thanks to all of you who have been expresssing your concern for SVP and the New York City street vendor community in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

One of the great things about being mobile is that you can pick up and seek shelter when a big storm comes. We are happy to report that all of our members appear to be safe, and many of them are already back on the street, serving New Yorkers in their time of great need.

Our staff kept working through the storm and its aftermath. We did outreach in Times Square yesterday (there`s Matt with Ehab, below) and today are back at work in our office, which miraculously has regained power despite our location in Lower Manhattan, one of the neighborhoods that was hardest hit by rising waters.

Matt with Ehab

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers,

Sean Basinski
