Online crowd funding – a new experiment of StreetNet International

Dear all

You may already be aware that since January 2015, StreetNet has been operating with no office, using virtual space, with a small team of three voluntary and very part-time people and a part-time bookkeeper. But we have managed to keep up with our work of making an international impression at the level of the ILO (International Labour Organisation), international trade union movement, social movements, UCLG (United Cities and Local Governments) and Cities Alliance, Global Programme for the Right to the City, etc. through StreetNet`s representatives who are elected leaders of street vendors and informal traders around the world – proving how much can be done with lots of solidarity and very little money.

So we are now trying our hand at crowd-funding, something we have seen some organisations (mainly influenced by the youth) use very effectively – and we are appealing to you to make your contribution, no matter how small, to assist us in doing this.

So far we have donations amounting to $1220, just over 2% of the $50 000 we are aiming for.

Please click on https://www.generosity.com/fundraisers/support-streetnet-international (or paste the address into your website address bar on the internet) and our crowd-funding website will come up, and then just follow the instructions about how to indicate the amount you want to contribute and how to pay it.

This is a new experiment. Please help us to make it work!

Thank you in anticipation for your generosity.

Please pass this appeal on to others who you think would be interested in supporting us.

Yours,
StreetNet International team
