CTCP-FNT and the Federation of traffic light workers’ press conference.

7 November 2011

The Confederation of self-employed workers CTCP-FNT and the Federation of traffic light workers called a press conference to reject an advertisement where a presidential candidate used images of traffic light vendors in a derogative and demeaning way.

The comrades said they feel proud to be self-employed and pointed out that workers from these places have contributed to the national economy and stability and governability of the country, despite having been prosecuted and penalized for selling in public spaces.

Traffic light workers made a direct request to the candidate to withdraw the advertisement because they felt offended and denigrated by seeing their work as negative and harmful for the country. They emphasized that their jobs have managed to provide education, health and bring food to their homes in an honest manner.
