Resolution 44
On Support to affiliates who are experiencing the suspension of their livelihood as a result of war, pandemic, climate change and natural disasters, violence, and economic deprivation.
Extension of Resolution 41 (on Support to the Workers of Venezuela)
This 7th International Congress of StreetNet:
Noting,
that the massive migration of street vendors caused by war, climate change and natural disasters, violence, political persecution, and economic deprivation which has resulted in the saturation of sources of work and the discontent of workers in the respective countries where affiliates come from.
Resolves:
in accordance with the Constitution of StreetNet regarding the protection of informal economy workers including self-employed workers, street vendors, mobile vendors, cross-border workers and migrants: “StreetNet and its affiliates are compelled to raise their voice of support in sustaining their livelihoods and the protection of their basic rights. Identify ways of expressing solidarity with the affected workers including connecting with workers’ unions and associations in those countries and extending financial support if possible.
