StreetNet Media Network

Participatory communication projects are one of our main media activities.

After developing the pilot training Youth Reporters on the Ground, aimed at young members of StreetNet affiliates, we established the StreetNet Media Network.

The StreetNet Media Network is the working group for communicators of StreetNet. Each affiliate organization had the opportunity to appoint one member to become a Media Activist and receive training and contribute to our communication work. We currently have 30 Media Activists who regularly participate in the StreetNet Media Network developing the following tasks:

  • Disseminate the media content of StreetNet among members of their affiliate organization and possibly among other allied organizations in the country/region and bridge the gap between StreetNet and the members on the ground;
  • Develop media content suitable for social media, which includes various formats (text, photos, video).
  • Participate in training sessions and webinars related to media and communication. These training sessions are focused on topics such as the importance of social media, how to write professional text, how to take photos and videos.

As a member of the StreetNet Media Network, I aspire to gain insights from fellow members, enhance my existing media skills, and exchange knowledge and experiences related to advocating for improved working conditions for workers in the informal economy.
