Again the central and municipal governments show little political will to solve socio-economic problems of the vendors, completely forgetting that these persons are working people who have been forced to be in this system by the poor access to decent work, they are elderly people, women, single mothers, young children, who are also part of the state that is violating, repressing, and forbidding the right to work and to life itself.

FENTRAVIG is unconditionally in solidarity with fellow vendor workers of El Salvador, for the violent evictions carried out by the Salvadoran government and municipal authorities, lamenting the use of unreasonable force, and we urge the authorities to respect the lives of this workers, as well as the international human rights commission to ensure compliance to have a job and a decent life. We call national and international organizations of self-employed workers to lift your voice in protest and in solidarity with our fellow Salvadorans self-employed vendors to demand the no violation of human rights and work rights for them. We request an investigation by the actions of the security forces that have attempted to risk the lives of the vendors and ask the government to consciously put in place solving mechanisms and to analyze the problem of unemployment, which pushes the majority of the population to resort to this subsistence work, such as street vending -misnamed Informal Economy.

Enclosed some internet links for you to have an idea of the dimension of the problem of our companions.
