Labour at Informal Work Economy (LIE) Celebrates International Women’s Day

International Women`s Day

Around one hundred female members from different affiliated organisations of the Labour at Informal Economy (LIE) joined to form a human chain at the front of Dhaka Press Club, Dhaka to celebrate International Women’s Day on the 8 March. It coincided with the campaign theme “Eliminate Violence Against Working Women”

The day was observed by females members who are street vendors, home based workers, waste pickers who wore clothing and carried banners embargoed with various slogans with messages to bring about awareness on gender equality, social protection and their fundamental rights at work.

Ms. Fardia Khanom, National Coordinator of the LIE and Ms. Arifa Arifa As Alam, Programme officer of LIE thanked affiliates and members for making the human chain campaign successful.
